The Best of Me

“I knew you loved me and that you’d do anything for me. And that was one of the reasons it hurt so much when you ended it, Dawson. Because I knew even then how rare that kind of love is. Only the luckiest people get to experience it at all”

A quote from Nicholas Sparks’s book “The Best of Me” I just saw the movie and after an hour, I’m struck. The movie was about first love. I’ve never been in love. I did like someone but I never really love anyone. I don’t know if any man ever loves me. I’ve been hurt so many times, way too many so when I got rejected or things didn’t go the way I want, I get used to it and moved on quickly. I’m always lucky in games but not in love. Maybe all the heartbreaks in the past made me stronger or it has put me in the place that I couldn’t love anyone.

All I can do is hoping I’ll be that luckiest person to experience what love really isSomeone who could bring out the best of me and will forever have the best of me.

“That’s why I loved being with you. We could do the simplest things, like toss starfish into the ocean and share a burger and talk and even then I knew that I was fortunate. Because you were the first guy who wasn’t constantly trying to impress me. You accepted who you were, but more than that, you accepted me for me. And nothing else mattered — not my family or your family or anyone else in the world. it was just us.

“You’ll make mistakes and struggle like everyone, but when you are with the right person, you’ll almost perfect joy like you are the luckiest person who ever lived. And that means you’ll love and be loved…. and in the end, nothing else really matters.”

Thank you, Nicholas Sparks. A man who always put loves into my heart through his books.
